Sometimes it can be daunting to constantly think of low carb side dishes that aren't boring and that my family will actually eat. This delicious air fryer mushrooms recipe was a nice and easy dish that went with my Bacon Wrapped Chicken Tenders that I made the other night. The whole dinner was a big hit for the entire family.

Whenever I make mushroom recipes, I always buy baby Bellas which are the same as cremini mushrooms and also just portobello mushrooms picked when they are younger. They just have a deeper flavor than white button mushrooms. That's what I used for my keto stuffed mushrooms with sausage and my air fryer steak bites and mushrooms.

With that said, you can use many different types of mushrooms for this recipe. I just know that you might turn a mushroom hater into a lover with this air fryer mushroom recipe!

Ingredients needed

This easy air-fried mushrooms recipe uses simple ingredients, but I provide swap options incase you want to make them your own. The full recipe card with exact measurements is toward the bottom of the page.

1 pound mushrooms: Like I said above, this recipe will work with a variety of mushrooms. Just note that mushrooms smaller than baby Bellas may require less cooking time.

¼ cup grated parmesan cheese: This would be the powdered kind of parmesan cheese.

3 tablespoons oil: You can use whatever oil you prefer such as olive oil, avocado oil, or even melted butter.

1 tablespoon fresh thyme: This simple herb really packs a flavor punch. You can also use 1 teaspoon of dried thyme.

1 teaspoon garlic powder: The garlic flavors combined with the thyme and parmesan is so amazing on this mushroom recipe.

¼ teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper

How to make air fryer mushrooms

With only a few minutes of cooking and basic ingredients we are left with buttery mushrooms...much better than sautéed mushrooms and less oil!

On a cutting board, clean the whole mushrooms with a damp paper towel. This is the best way to remove any residual dirt.

Using a sharp knife, I like to cut off some of the stem, but not all of it. You are welcome to remove the whole stem if you like, though. Then cut the mushrooms into quarters. Any small mushrooms need to only be cut in half.

Add the seasoned mushrooms to the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cook the mushrooms in batches if you have a smaller air fryer. If you have an air fryer oven like me, you can line your tray with foil for easier clean up.
