"The Scandi Hairline is no doubt leading the charge as the biggest hair trend for 2024, with a massive +6,748% rise in Google searches compared to six months ago," reveals Beauty Pie and their research proves that "bobs are back and creamy-coffee colours are in."

Other trends pay tribute to our obsession with food & drink-related aesthetics, with Cherry Cola Lips (+2,215%), Chocolate Milk nails (+1,350%) and Espresso Makeup (+679%) following closely behind. It looks like mouth-watering manis, coffee-hued liner and juicy, berry lips are going absolutely nowhere, and we're here for it.

Hello! Fashionshares the beauty trends to have on your radar for 2024...

Mob Wife Beauty

"The mob wife aesthetic is the extra glam version of the old money style we all saw everywhere... Think Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface," explains film director Phoebe Torrance. The fashion aesthetic is already booming online, "Combined with this year being The Sopranos’ 25th anniversary and fuelled by streaming platform releases, we’re seeing Gen-Z audiences taking an interest in Italian mob/mafia stories from the 70s and 80s that are being retold for a generation that did not experience it," a spokesperson for Depop told Hello! Fashion. For beauty think mauve lips, thick black jersey headbands and bouncy voluminous hair.

The Microfringe

"The microfringe is a striking look for the fashion forward lady. It gives a strong and powerful edge to any outfit or event. It really works for woman with slick and straight hair so best not to attempt it if you have wild or curly hair," explains celebrity hairstylist Limoz Logli. The look has already been spotted on Zendaya at Paris Couture Week and Maura Higgins.

"This look is very edgy and 'transgresor'. However, the celebrities have the flexibility of changing their hair constantly," explains hairstylist Bernardo Vasconcelos, "However, for the rest of the mortals, this look is very bold and can make you regret it after. Also, it looks as if they’re wearing a wig or hair extensions (which is very normal amongst celebs) so the cut isn’t actually on their real hair. If you see closely you can notice it.In my opinion I recommend my clients to wait until they are 100% sure they want to have this look and have a softening Keratin treatment beforehand to get rid of the frizz and achieve a more sleek, look."

Balletcore Beauty

Great news for Miu Miu pump enthusiasts: Balletcore is still gaining momentum. “The ballet core trend is about beautiful dewy skin, flushed cheeks and pink lips, it's a monochrome look, using pinks. What you’re looking to achieve is the kind of glow and flush you get from ballet, yoga or pilates," explains Chanel makeup artist Anna Payne.

Anna says the best place to start with this is with Chanel's Le Blanc Rosy Light Drops. "These sheer liquid drops will give you the perfect pearlescent base with a slightly pink tint that is flattering and pearlescent.

You can use it as a primer or add it into you foundation for extra glow. Apply all over or tap onto the areas of the face that naturally catch light like the tops of cheekbones or forehead."

Shiny, saccharine ribbons have been jeté-ing into hair looks, but this criss-cross braided bun, spotted at Christian Siriano, takes top spot. Poise-packed braided updos also featured heavily at Alice + Olivia, so it's time to brush up on your skills. "Think pretty and feminine and oh-so natural, this makeup trend is here to stay," says BeautyPie, "When you imagine a typical ballerina (in pale pink tutus and flattering wrap tops), this makeup trend embodies exactly that. Silky pink eyeshadow, luminous skin, and a pop of baby pink blush to brighten everything up - en pointe."

Scandi Hairline

Inspired by Scandinavian cool-girls, this colour technique which was also popular at the end of last year involves lightening the baby hairs around the hairline and forehead. Stylists achieve it by separating out the soft hairs with a fine comb and applying a lightener. The effect brightens the face, giving the appearance of a gorgeous, sun-kissed blonde look.

Cherry Cola Lips

Steeped in nostalgic charm, the smash-hit lip Cherry Cola lips trend draws inspiration from the colour of fizzy cherry cola. The look involves lining your lips in brown, followed by a swipe of burgundy red lipstick, and topping it off with a slick of gloss, leaning into the contrast between the wash of red and the earthy brown.

“The Cherry Cola lip trend draws its inspiration from the iconic soft drink, resulting in a captivating and alluring look. This trend begins by using a deep burgundy or brown lip liner to skillfully create a bold, contoured outline that beautifully enhances the shape of the lips,” explains makeup artist Yasmin Salmon, “The magic happens as the outline is softly blended and shaded, creating a mesmerising balayage effect that seamlessly transitions into the rest of the lips.”

Espresso Makeup

Soft, dusty brown tones have dominated this summer, and we have Latte Makeup to thank. Embrace richer, moodier browns for winter by taking your cues from your caffeinated pick-me-up. Accentuate your eyes with espresso-hued liner along the lash line for maximum impact. "Espresso Makeup' is the cool-girl approved makeup look you need to master," says Hello! Fashion's Natalie Salmon, "Unlike its summer counterpart, 'Latte Makeup,' this trend is all about embracing the darker, richer tones reminiscent of a cup of espresso. With celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski jumping on the bandwagon and 54.6 million views on TikTok, it's clear that this sultry and versatile look is here to stay."

90s Nostalgia

It's giving future footballing legend, and honestly, we're here for it. Nostalgia was in the air at Helmut Lang where models graced the runway in zig-zag hairbands, and we even spied some slender, black versions at Tibi.

And there's more. Turning back the clocks with a retro bob is apparently the subject of much internal debate. "'Should I, should I not... cut my hair in an asymmetrical short bob?' This has been the most frequently asked question on both my personal and brand's Instagram," reveals Parisian hair guru and founder of Blab'hair Noa Souffir. "I suspect the Beckham documentary will have long-lasting effect in 2024."

Glassy Side Partings

Deep side partings are on the up, with clean, gel-slicked styles having emerged as one of SS24's key hair trends. There is scope for experimentation – smooth, holiday-esque hair (brushed back, then to the side) à la Valentino, or starker, more clear-cut parting lines at Hermès – but the finish is clear: high-shine or the highway.

Get Red-y

Fiery red dominated the AW23 runways, and it appears there's more where that came from. The striking hue is set to run over into spring, but in plusher, deeper tones. This was reflected in next season's beauty looks, including jammy-effect cherry lips at Gucci. "If you ask me, every beauty lover should have a red lipin their arsenal," says Hello! Fashion's beauty assistant Lydia Mormen, "From your glam Grandma to the Parisian poster girl and every beauty icon in between, when you see someone with a slick of the right rouge they immediately exude boldness, confidence and femininity."

Siren Splendour

Jason Wu's shipwreck-themed SS24 show was giving major submersion. Wet-look finger waves alongside fresh, glossy skin created a certain mythical, Siren-like ambience, whereas at Anna Sui, pops of aqua-hued shadow and pretty curls elevated the Mermaidcore trend to new, more calculated heights.
