OSWEGO, IL — From a dramatic car hijacking to a three-car bumper incident, Oswego police have had a busy week. Here's a look at some recent reports provided by local police.

Chain reaction: Three cars were too close on the road the afternoon of Oct. 20. Over an estimated $1,500 worth of damage was done to the vehicles. A 16-year-old was driving the first vehicle. Sean Young, 23, of Naperville, was driving an SUV and Heidi Hasselgren, 49, of Yorkville was driving another SUV. No one was injured.

Southbound strike: D. Rivera, 26, of Aurora, struck Darle Olsen, 63, of Streator as they were both heading south on Rt. 71. Rivera was charged with improper lane usage.

Pickup vs.sedan: Oswego Police responded Friday morning to the intersection of Wolf’s Crossing and Route 34. James McCaw, 65, of Oswego, was attempting to turn left onto eastbound Wolf’s Crossing and didn’t notice David Senkpeil, 61, traveling west. Senkpeil’s sedan was struck on the passenger side. Neither of the vehicles were towed and no injuries were reported.

Lots of no-no’s: Ernesto Camacho, Jr., 23, was driving Oct. 20 with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, expired registration and a warrant. He was detained at the corner of Madison Street and Elmwood Drive. He is set to appear in court Nov. 27.

Fraud alert: A 47-year-old man called in fraud Oct. 20, a day and a half after the incident had occurred. Almost $600 was stolen from 610 Vista Dr. near Arboretum Way.

Looking for info: Police took a disorderly conduct call Oct. 20 at 5:48 p.m. in the 300 block of Prairieview Drive. The boy who called it in was under 18 years of age.

Get yer gun: A 50-year-old man reported a stolen firearm from a residence in the 100 block of Hartford Court. The incident occurred Oct. 20 at around 10 p.m.

No biggie: Zelenene Escarcega, 25, of Aurora, ran her SUV into the end of Kelly Gratace’s sedan at the intersection of Rt. 34 and Kendall Point Drive Oct. 21. No one was hurt.

Kiddo uninjured: An SUV was stopped on Douglas Road and Rt. 34 when a sedan tried to change lanes and drove into the left turn lane and sideswiped the stationary SUV. Wendy Smentek, 42, of Oswego was the driver of the sedan with a 4-year-old passenger. Carol Flanagan, 55, of Romeoville, was in the SUV. No injuries were reported. Incident happened Oct. 21 late afternoon.

Vehicle hijacking: Police were able to stop a chase by deploying a tire deflation device near the corner of Route 71 & Route 34. The hijacking began at a gas station in unincorporated Montgomery Oct. 21. Juan Padilla, 28, of Montgomery, was taken into custody.

Hit ‘n’ run: Up to $1,500 worth of damage was done Oct. 21 around 8:40 p.m. in the 0 block of N. Madison Street.

Gotta have the license: Lizeth Alejandra Quiroz Duran, 30, of the 500 block of Clark Street in Aurora, was charged with not having a driver’s license or registration. Her court date is Nov. 27. The incident occurred Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. near the corner of Douglas Rd. and Rt. 34.

Damage is done: Police responded to a location near 5th Street and Route 34 for a property damage accident Oct. 21. James Pieroni, 38, of Joliet, was driving a coupe northbound. He didn’t notice Maria E. Medina, 32, of Aurora, and struck her bumper, causing minor damage.

Underage Drinks: Two 19-year-old men were caught drinking at the 300 block of Whitewater Lane Oct. 22 at 1 a.m. Collin and David Snow were both charged with consumption by minor.
